In the weeks leading up to the 2013 Tony telecast, Broadway.com is posting video clips of favorite Tony memories of this year’s nominees, with their own commentary. Like any Broadway super-fan, Best Actress nominee Laura Osnes spent her younger years sharing Tony night with her friends. Below, the Cinderella star shares memories of Tony party refreshments and offers a shout-out to former leading man Paulo Szot, who won Best Actor in a Musical on June 15, 2008, at Radio City Music Hall. (We've also included a clip of the five-minute South Pacific Tony medley, featuring Szot, Kelli O'Hara and 2013 Tony nominee Danny Burstein.)
“My friends and I would always host a Tony party and serve things like Spamalot cheesecake and Pacific Overtures fried rice, food based on the shows that were nominated. Once I got to Broadway, I loved Paulo Szot’s acceptance speech [as Best Actor in a Musical for South Pacific]. I didn’t actually see him give it because we were performing in Grease, but I remember watching it afterward and thinking that it was so, so wonderful. And then we worked together!”
