The Office star Jenna Fischer and GCB alum Leslie Bibb make their off-Broadway debut opposite Josh Hamilton and Fred Weller in Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Happy. Written and directed by LaBute, the play begins performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on May 16, with an official opening on June 11.
A companion piece to LaBute's Tony-nominated Reasons to Be Pretty, the play reunites Steph (Fischer) and Greg (Hamilton), who are wondering if they can make a fresh go of it three years after their contentious break-up. Trouble is, she’s married to someone else and he’s just embarked on a relationship with Steph’s best friend (Bibb), a single mom whose jealous ex-husband (Weller) has trouble articulating his feelings. Navigating the rocky landscape of conflicting agendas and exploding emotions isn’t going to be easy for any of them.
The MCC Theater production features scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by Sarah Holden, lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Robert Kaplowitz.
Reasons to Be Happy runs through June 23.
