The Tony-nominated revival of The Trip to Bountiful is bringing a taste of southern charm to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, starring Tony nominee Cicely Tyson as an elderly woman who longs to return to her Texas hometown one final time. Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson took the long journey home to Bountiful, then sketched a soulful portrait of Tyson as Carrie Watts (center) alongside her co-stars (from left) Vanessa Williams as Jessie Mae, Cuba Gooding Jr. as Ludie, Tony nominee Condola Rashad as Thelma and Tom Wopat as the Sheriff. About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
