Broadway alums Rory O’Malley, Leslie Kritzer, Lauren Molina and more will star in the Second Stage Theatre production of Nobody Loves You, a new musical about reality TV dating shows. Featuring music by Gaby Alter, a book by Itamar Moses and lyrics by Alter and Moses, the previously announced musical begins performances June 20, with opening night set for July 18 at the Tony Kiser Theatre. Michelle Tattenbaum will direct.
In addition to O’Malley, Kritzer and Molina, Nobody Loves You stars Heath Calvert (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Bryan Fenkart (Memphis), Roe Hartrampf (Golden Age), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde) and Aleque Reid (Really Really).
Nobody Loves You tells the story of a philosophy grad student who auditions for—and surprisingly finds himself cast on—a reality TV dating show in an attempt to win back his ex-girlfriend. But when an unexpected on-set love connection threatens to ruin his plan, manufactured drama collides with real life. The new musical premiered at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre in 2012, starring Calvert and Molina.
O’Malley earned a Tony nomination for his portrayal of Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon. He also appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. O’Malley’s film and TV credits include Nurse Jackie and 1600 Penn. Kritzer is currently starring in The Memory Show off-Broadway. Her Broadway credits include Elf, Sondheim on Sondheim, A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde and Hairspray. Molina made her Broadway debut in Sweeney Todd and went on to star in Rock of Ages. She recently appeared off-Broadway in Marry Me a Little.
