Lights, camera, action! The world premiere of Rod McLachlan’s Good Television begins performances off-Broadway at Atlantic Stage 2 on May 22. Directed by Bob Krakower, the Atlantic Theater production features Mad Men and Homeland star Talia Balsam, Zoe Perry and Kelly McAndrew and officially opens June 4.
In Good Television, Connie (McAndrew) is an intervention counselor and producer on a reality television series that profiles people suffering from addiction. Against her better judgment, her superiors convince her to take on a risky case in the hopes of making a riveting, explosive episode. When Connie and her colleagues travel to South Carolina to interview a young meth addict and his family, Connie’s own demons resurface and the “explosive episode” threatens to blow up in her face.
The ensemble cast also includes John Magaro, Jessica Cummings, Luke Robertson, Andrew Stewart-Jones and Ned Van Zandt.
Good Television features set design by Eric Southern, costume design by Theresa Squire, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger and original music and sound design by Mary Louise Geiger.
Good Television runs downtown through June 16.
