CBS has given the greenlight to The Performers alum Ari Graynor’s star vehicle comedy series Bad Teacher, reports TVLine.
The late-in-the-game pick-up is a rarity, considering that Bad Teacher was left off of CBS’s upfront slate last week. Still, it’s great news for Graynor, who will play a foul-mouthed teacher looking for her next husband at school.
The series is loosely based on the 2011 Cameron Diaz film of the same name and will co-star fellow Broadway vets David Alan Grier and Kristin Davis as well as Ryan Hansen and Sara Gilbert.
Graynor turned in a memorable stage performance in last fall's short-lived comedy The Performers; her past Broadway credits include Brooklyn Boy, The Little Dog Laughed and Relatively Speaking. On screen, Graynor's star turns include For A Good Time, Call..., Nick & Nora's Infinite Playlist, What's Your Number?, The Guilt Trip, Celeste and Jesse Forever, 10 Years and The Sitter.
