Wicked welcomes Dogfight duo Lindsay Mendez and Derek Klena as the 10th anniversary Elphaba and Fiyero beginning May 28. Klena makes his Broadway debut at the Gershwin Theatre.
Mendez and Klena join current Wicked stars Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Randy Danson as Madame Morrible, Adam Grupper as The Wizard, Catherine Charlebois as Nessarose, F. Michael Haynie as Boq and John Schiappa as Dr. Dillamond.
Mendez made her Broadway debut as Jan in the 2007 revival of Grease. She then appeared in Everyday Rapture with Sherie Rene Scott and as the “Bless the Lord” soloist in the 2011 revival of Schwartz’s Godspell. Her off-Broadway credits include originating the role of Rose in Dogfight (Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk nomination), Everyday Rapture and The Marvelous Wonderettes. Mendez also appeared in concert and on the recording of Ryan Scott Oliver’s 35mm: A Musical Exhibition.
Klena’s New York stage credits include Dogfight at Second Stage Theatre and Tommy Ross in MCC’s 2012 revival of Carrie. His regional resume includes Hairspray, Glory Days, Happy Days, Cinderella, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Big River.
