Tony nominees Laura Osnes (Cinderella) and Condola Rashad (The Trip to Bountiful) will be honored at the Broadway Beacon Awards on June 17 at Joe’s Pub. Presented by not-for-profit educational organization Inside Broadway, the ceremony will be hosted by FOX5 entertainment reporter Anna Gilligan. Model and Broadway alum Christie Brinkley will serve as Honorary Chair for the event.
In addition to Osnes and Rashad, Inside Broadway executive director Michael Presser will honor Alan L. Bain, chairman of the American-Scottish Foundation. Established by Presser in 1982, Inside Broadway reaches over 30,000 New York City students every year by developing and producing touring equity musical productions that allow participants to interact with professionals in the field.
“We are so thrilled to be honoring these remarkably talented individuals for their contributions to New York and the theater…the Broadway Beacon Awards is always a wonderful way for us to end the theater season and this year is no exception,” says Inside Broadway Executive Director Michael Presser.
Osnes made her Broadway debut in Grease after winning the TV reality competition series You’re the One That I Want. She went on to star in South Pacific and Anything Goes before garnering her first Tony nomination for her performance in Bonnie and Clyde in 2011. Osnes is also the star of the Broadway.com video blog, The Princess Diary.
Rashad made her Broadway debut in Stick Fly, earning her first Tony nomination for her performance. She will star in the forthcoming Broadway revival of Romeo and Juliet alongside Orlando Bloom beginning August 24. Rashad is the daughter of Tony winner Phylicia Rashad.
