Heads up, wives and girlfriends! A trio of celebrity wags will glam it up on the West End stage in a new production of WAG! The Musical, set to open on July 24 at Charing Cross Theatre for a six-week summer engagement from July 18 through August 24.
Media personality Lizzie Cundy, footballer’s wife Pippa Fulton and Ariadne the Greek Wag will join Olivier winner Tim Flavin in the contemporary musical comedy about two working girls in a city department store who encounter a range of zany customers including aspiring plain Janes, adulterous males, acidic queens and an all-conquering entourage of WAGs.
The cast also includes Daisy Wood-Davis, Amy Scott, Gavin Alex, Chris Grierson, Katie Kerr, Philip Andrew and Nia Jermin.
WAG! The Musical features a book by Belvedere Pashun and music & lyrics by Grant Martin, Thomas Giron-Towers and Tony Bayliss. Alison Pollard directs, with lighting design by Simon Lord, sound by Peter Hargreaves and set design by Charles Camm.
Cundy is a regular daytime TV guest, frequent style guru on This Morning and host of Wedding TV’s cult show WAGS World and its spin-off Sporting Icon WAGS. Fulton made her professional acting debut in John Godber’s Funny Turns. Ariadne the Greek Wag is the comic creation of Alyssa Kyria, a host and headliner on London’s comedy and cabaret circuit. Flavin was the first American actor to win a Best Actor Olivier for his performance in On Your Toes; his other West End credits include My One and Only and Crazy For You.
