Murder they wrote! Jeff Blumenkrantz and Brett Ryback will headline the new production of Murder for Two at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Uptown. Featuring a book and music by Joe Kinosian, a book and lyrics by Kellen Blair and direction by Scott Schwartz, Murder for Two begins performances July 10, with opening night set for July 25 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre.
Mixing classic musical comedy with a dash of Agatha Christie, everyone is a suspect in this house of eccentric characters unfazed by the dead body on the floor. But this whodunit comes with a killer twist: one actor investigates the crime (Ryback), the other plays all thirteen suspects (Blumenkrantz), and they both play the piano! This madcap mystery will tickle the ivories and your funny bone.
Blumenkrantz has appeared on Broadway in Into the Woods, Threepenny Opera, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A Class Act and Damn Yankees. His film and TV credits include The Good Wife, Will and Grace, 30 Rock and Ugly Betty. Ryback’s regional theater credits include The History Boys, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Prince of Atlantic, Imagine and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His TV credits include House, Cupid and How I Met Your Mother.
Murder for Two features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Jill BC DuBoff.
