What’s better than stars mocking stars? The Drama Desk Award-winning series Celebrity Autobiography returns off-Broadway to Stage72 on June 15 and 17. Created by Eugene Pack, Celebrity Autobiography: The Next Chapter features selections from memoirs by Justin Bieber, Patti LuPone, Diana Ross, "The Situation," Madonna, Tiger Woods, Susan Lucci, The Jonas Brothers, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Britney Spears, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Destiny's Child and more.
The June 15 performance features readings by Jane Krakowski, Tony Danza, Janeane Garofalo, Mario Cantone, Scott Adsit, Eugene Pack, Dayle Reyfel and Alan Zweibel. The June 17 readings will swap out Danza and Adist for Tony nominee Richard Kind, and actress Brooke Shields.
Celebrity Autobiography features a rotating line-up of performers who read from the often ridiculous autobiographies of well-known stars. Past readings have included segments from bios by Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Sarah Palin, Ivana Trump, Tommy Lee and more.
Celebrity Autobiography: The Next Chapter also includes special celebrity mash-ups: Cher, Barbra Streisand, Neil Sedaka, Dolly Parton, and Celine Dion all expressing their passion for food; Sylvester Stallone and Tommy Lee on working out and working “it” out; LL Cool J, Miley Cyrus, and Ricky Martin addressing who they "really are;” Tallulah Bankhead, Kathleen Turner, and Ethel Merman sharing the secrets of diva-dom; and Lauren Bacall and Carol Channing recreating the suspense of Tony night.
In addition to the New York engagements, Celebrity Autobiography will also play June 10 in Washington, D.C. and feature readings by Rachel Dratch, Lainie Kazan, Mario Cantone, Carla Hall, Eugene Pack, Dayle Reyfel, and Steve Schirripa.
