The box office has opened and tickets are now on sale for upcoming musical comedy First Date, which opens on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre on August 8. The show, starring Chuck’s Zachary Levi and Smash’s Krysta Rodriguez, begins preview performances on July 9.
The show tells the story of the tightly-wound Aaron (Levi) and serial dater Casey (Rodriguez), whose first date is chronicled as it unfolds over the course of one hilarious evening. A quick drink turns into an eventful dinner served with sides of Google background checks, fake emergency phone calls and a slew of bad boy and uptown girl exes.
The cast also includes Sara Chase, Kristoffer Cusick, Blake Hammond, Kate Loprest, Vicki Noon, Bryce Ryness, Eric Ankrim, Kevin Kern and Sydney Shepherd. Ankrim, who originated the role of Aaron in the show’s 2012 Seattle premiere, will temporarily take over Levi’s role from July 16 through July 21.
First Date features a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner and direction by Bill Berry. The creative team includes musical staging by Josh Rhodes, scenic and media design by David Gallo, costumes by David C. Woolard, lighting by Mike Baldassari, sound by Kai Harada and hair by Josh Marquette.
