Tony winner Eddie Redmayne has made quite an impression on Hollywood with stellar performances in My Week with Marilyn and Les Miserables. Now word comes from Deadline.com that Redmayne may be readying for the role of his career: Stephen Hawking.
Redmayne may lead the film Theory of Everything about Hawking and his relationship with his wife. The biopic will be directed by James Marsh and be produced by Working Title (who also produced Les Miz). The film is rumored to begin in the fall. No word yet on who may be tapped to play Hawking’s wife.
Redmayne has appeared on Broadway only once in 2010’s Tony-winning play Red—which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He starred on the London stage in Richard II. His additional screen credits include Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Powder Blue, Hick, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Good Shepherd.
