Unconstitutional, a new comedy written by and starring popular comedian and SNL vet Colin Quinn, will extend and transfer to off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre for a three-week run beginning July 4 through 23. This engagement follows a five-week run at the Barrow Street Theatre that began in May. After its New York run, the show will also tour in the fall, travelling to the original 13 colonies.
Directed by Rebecca A. Trent, the acclaimed show features Quinn offering a unique comic perspective on the character of the nation, from predator drones to the Kardashians. Quinn pulls no punches in asking if this is what our founding fathers planned when they sat down in wigs and tights to create a country from scratch in 1787.
Unconstitutional marks Quinn’s return to the New York stage following his appearance on Broadway in Long Story Short (which earned him a Drama Desk and Emmy Award nomination). The show features set design by James Fauvell, costume design by Alexis Forte and lighting design by Sarah Lurie.
