Dates, Venue & New Music Category Announced for the 2014 Olivier Awards

Time to book your tickets to London! The 2014 Olivier Awards ceremony will be held on April 13 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Productions must open by February 25 in order to be eligible for awards.

The awards will also introduce a new category, “Outstanding Achievement in Music.” The new category will recognize composition of original music for plays, orchestration and musical supervision/direction.

The Laurence Olivier Awards, presented by the Society of London Theatre, recognize excellence in professional theatre in the West End and other productions staged throughout London. Originally known as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, the awards were established in 1976. The awards were renamed in Oliver’s honor in 1984. The awards ceremony was held at the Royal Opera House in both 2012 and 2013.
