The songs of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have filled the playlists of musical theater lovers for decades. Their beloved shows include Ragtime, Once on This Island, Seussical, Dessa Rose and My Favorite Year. Now this celebrated songwriting team commemorates their 30-year anniversary with six concerts at 54 Below. Nice Fighting You plays Broadway’s living room September 26 through September 28. A cavalcade of Broadway performers are still to be announced.
Nice Fighting You: A 30th Anniversary Celebration includes songs from the Ahrens and Flaherty’s vast body of work performed by some of Broadway's biggest and most cherished performers. And who knows, perhaps the duo will take the stage themselves?
In addition to the aforementioned musicals, Ahrens and Flahtery also created Lucky Stiff, A Christmas Carol, A Man of No Importance, The Glorious Ones, Little Dancer and the Broadway-bound musical Rocky. They won a 1998 Tony Award for Best Original Musical Score for Ragtime and were nominated in 1991 for Once on This Island. The pair, who also wrote the music to the animated film Anastasia, has received several Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy nominations.
