Darius Campbell, Siubhan Harrison, Robert Lonsdale, Ryan Sampson and Rebecca Thornhill will lead the stage musical adaptation of Tim Rice and Stuart Brayson’s new musical From Here to Eternity, based on the James Jones’ 1951 novel and the 1953 Oscar-winning film. The musical begins previews at the Shaftesbury Theatre on September 30, 2013, with opening night set for October 23.
Campbell will star as Warden, alongside Thornhill as Karen, Harrison as Lorene, Lonsdale as Prewitt and Sampson as Maggio. The ensemble will include Keisha Amponsa Banson, Marc Antolin, Julie Armstrong, James Ballanger, John Brannoch, Abigail Climer, Brian Doherty, Jessica Ellen, Dale Evans, Shimi Goodman, Kirby Hughes, Lauren Ingram, Dean John-Wilson, Joshua Lacey, Carolyn Maitland, Nuno Queimado, Lucinda Shaw, Warren Sollars, David Stoller, Rebecca Sutherland, Laura Tyrer, Adam Vaughan, Lauren Varnham, Stephen Webb and Matthew Wesley.
From Here to Eternity chronicles the lives of a group of privates on an army base in 1941 Hawaii. Romances blossom when the troubled Private Prewitt (Lonsdale) falls for club girl Lorene (Harrison) while platoon sergeant Warden (Campbell) starts a dangerous affair with his commanding officer’s wife Karen (Thornhill).
The show features music by Brayson, lyrics by Rice, a book by Bill Oakes and direction by Tamara Harvey. The creative team includes design by Soutra Gilmour, choreography by Javier De Frutos, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Mick Potter and orchestrations/musical supervision by David White.
