Shiz University is welcoming a fresh class of stars in London. Joining Wicked’s new headliner Willemijn Verkaik are Savannah Stevenson as Glinda, Sam Kelly as The Wizard, Jeremy Taylor as Fiyero, Sue Kelvin as Madame Morrible and Olivier Award winner Paul Clarkson as Doctor Dillamond. The new stars will begin performances at the West End’s Apollo Victoria Theatre on November 18.
Current Wicked stars Katie Rowley Jones and Sam Lupton will continue in the roles of Nessarose and Boq, respectively. Emma Hatton will be the standby for Elphaba and current ensemble cast member Sophie Linder-Lee will become the standby Glinda.
Stevenson’s theater credits include Chariots of Fire, The Secret Garden, Gone with the Wind, Aspects of Love, Cowardly Custard, Follies, Mary Poppins and She Stoops to Conquer. Kelly, who starred as The Wizard in 2009-2010, is a celebrated television actor and has appeared on the British series Porridge, ‘Allo, ‘Allo, Now and Then, Haggard, On The Up, Holding On, Barbara and My Family. Taylor has starred in the West End musicals We Will Rock You and The Sound of Music. Kelvin’s vast stage credits include Chicago, Private Lives, A Streetcar Named Desire, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver!, Assassins and Les Miserables. Clarkson won an Olivier Award for his role as John Tallentire in The Hired Man and has appeared in Mamma Mia!, The Glee Club and TV’s Hollyoaks, The Manageress and Tripper’s Day.
