The long-running ABBA musical Mamma Mia! has set dates for its previously announced move to the Broadhurst Theatre. The musical will play its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre on October 19 and resume performances at the Broadhurst on November 2. A musical adaptation of Rocky is scheduled to begin performances at the Winter Garden in February 2014.
Featuring music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and a book by Catherine Johnson, Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophie Sheridan (Laurie Veldheer), who invites three possible dads to walk her down the aisle at her wedding—unbeknownst to her mother, Donna (Judy McLane). Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, Mamma Mia! opened October 18, 2001, at the Winter Garden Theatre, after premiering at London’s Prince Edward Theatre in 1999.
In addition to Veldheer and McLane, Mamma Mia! stars Felicia Finley as Tanya, Zak Resnick as Sky, Lauren Cohn as Rosie, Aaron Lazar as Sam Carmichael, Graham Rowat as Harry Bright, Daniel Cooney as Bill Austin, Jacob Pinion as Pepper, Thomasina E. Gross as Lisa, Traci Victoria as Ali and Albert Guerzon as Eddie. Mamma Mia! also features Deanna Aguinaga, Sydni Beaudoin, Timothy Booth, Natalie Bradshaw, Felicity Claire, Allyson Carr, Mark Dancewicz, Stacia Fernandez, Adrienne Jean Fisher, Jon-Erik Goldberg, Tony Gonzalez, John Hemphill, Bryan Scott Johnson, Paul Heesang Miller, Christopher Hudson Myers, Corinne Melancon, Jennifer Noth, Elena Ricardo, Gerard Salvador, Lauren Sambataro, Leah Zepel and Blake Whyte.
