Marni Raab, who currently plays the Christine alternate in The Phantom of the Opera, will resume performances as the principal Christine beginning July 30. Raab succeeds current star Samantha Hill, who will depart the production on July 27. Laird Mackintosh (no relation to the show's producer, Cameron Mackintosh) will also join the cast as Monsieur Andre beginning August 26. Mackintosh succeeds Jim Weitzer, who will depart the production on July 27, then re-join the musical as Monsieur Reyer on September 29. Mary Michael Patterson will appear as the alternate Christine, performing two shows per week beginning July 29.
Raab made her Broadway debut in The Phantom of the Opera. Her additional credits include Cats in Hamburg, Roberta and Have a Heart in New York, and regional productions of My Fair Lady, The Fantasticks and Carousel. Mackintosh made his Broadway debut in Jekyll & Hyde. He appeared in The Phantom of the Opera in Toronto and in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival production of My Fair Lady. Patterson made her Broadway debut in Anything Goes. Her regional theater credits include Titanic, Sense and Sensibility and Singin’ in the Rain.
Featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Stilgoe and Webber, The Phantom of the Opera is currently playing at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway. In addition to Hill and Weitzer, Phantom currently stars Peter Joback as the Phantom, Kyle Barisich as Raoul, Tim Jerome as Monsieur Firmin, Michele McConnell as Carlotta Guidicelli, Marilyn Caskey as Madame Giry, Christian Sebek as Ubaldo Piangi and Kara Klein as Meg Giry. As previously announced, longtime Phantom Hugh Panaro will return to the production on August 26, and Ellen Harvey will resume the role of Madame Giry on July 30 after taking a brief hiatus from the production.
