Here’s a casting tidbit we love: Two-time Tony nominee and Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard is “in negotiations” to play stepsister Florinda in the forthcoming film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods, according to Deadline.com. Blanchard will join a cast that includes Lucy Punch as Lucinda and Christine Baranski as Cinderella’s Stepmother.
Blanchard received Tony nominations for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Gypsy and won an Emmy for playing Judy Garland in Me and My Shadows. On the big screen, she will be featured in in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, which opens on July 26.
Into the Woods is scheduled to begin filming in London this fall for a Christmas 2014 release, directed by Rob Marshall. The A-list cast also includes Chris Pine, current Broadway headliner Billy Magnussen, Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Tracey Ullman and Daniel Huttlestone.
