Paul Manuel Kane’s new off-Broadway comedy Dancing on Nails will play its final performance on July 31, rather than the previously announced date of August 29. At the time of closing the show will have played seven preview performances and three regular performances. Directed by Allen Lewis Rickman, the play stars Boardwalk Empire’s Peter Van Wagner and Jazmyn Richardson as a pair of mismatched friends.
He’s Jewish and she’s black. He’s 52 and she’s 23. And it’s 1953. Dancing on Nails explores the challenging relationship between a lonely middle-aged shopkeeper (Van Wagner) and his young African-American employee (Richardson) in 1950s Greenwich Village.
In addition to Van Wagner and Richardson, the show co-stars Lori Wilner, Lauren Klein and Michael Lewis.
Dancing on Nails features set design by Vicki R. Davis, costume design by Gail Cooper-Hecht and lighting design by Michael Gottlieb.
