Former Rock of Ages star Justin Matthew Sargent will join Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark as the alternate Spider-Man/Peter Parker at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre. Jake Epstein played his final performance as alternate on August 10 in advance of joining the forthcoming Broadway production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. No replacement has been announced for Spider-Man title star Reeve Carney, who will exit the high-flying production on September 15.
Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark follows the story of Peter Parker (Carney), whose life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and finds himself endowed with superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli) and his band of super villains. Peter must fight to save everything he holds dear, including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson (Rebecca Faulkenberry).
Sargent is best known for playing Drew, a busboy at the Bourbon Room who dreams of becoming a rock star,in Rock of Ages. He also appeared on Broadway in Bonnie & Clyde.
