Rejoice, Matilda fans! We'll get to sing the revolting songs using revolting rhymes at home! The current Broadway production of Matilda will release a new cast recording of the blockbuster musical. The album will be distributed through Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label and will be released digitally and be available at the Shubert Theatre beginning September 27. Produced by Michael Croiter and Tony nominee Christopher Nightingale, the CD will be available in stores on October 22.
Matilda currently stars Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro in the title role, Tony nominee Bertie Carvel as Miss Trunchbull, Tony nominee Lauren Ward as Miss Honey, Lesli Margherita as Miss Wormwood, Tony winner Gabriel Ebert as Mr. Wormwood and Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps.
Directed by Tony winner Matthew Warchus, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny. Based on the beloved Roald Dahl novel of the same name, the musical features a book by Tony winner Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tony nominee Tim Minchin. Matilda’s Tony-nominated score includes favorites like “Naughty,” “Loud,” “When I Grow Up” and “Revolting Children.”
Tony nominee Craig Bierko and Jill Paice will join the company of the hit Broadway musical as Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey, respectively, on September 3. Carvel and Ward will play their final performances on September 1.
