John Gallagher Jr. to Star in Mystery Movie The Heart Machine

John Gallagher Jr. is back in NYC, as filming begins on August 20 for The Heart Machine, an “indie mystery-drama,” according to Deadline.com. Co-starring Kate Lyn Sheil (House of Cards), the film will be the first feature from writer/director Zachary Wigon.

The Heart Machine centers on a young couple in a long-distance online relationship who have never met. Cody (Gallagher) begins to suspect that Virginia (Sheil) has been living in New York all along and sets out to investigate.

A Tony winner for Spring Awakening, Gallagher has appeared on Broadway in American Idiot, Jerusalem and Rabbit Hole. He plays producer Jim Harper on HBO’s The Newsroom and stars in the film drama Short Term 12, which will be released on August 23.
