Performances begin for the world premiere of Regina Taylor’s stop. reset. on August 20, starring Carl Lumbly, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Ismael Cruz Cordova. Directed by Taylor, the play opens officially on September 8 at off-Broadway’s Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center. stop. reset. is scheduled to play a limited engagement through September 29.
stop. reset. tells the story of Alex Ames (Lumbly), the owner of Chicago’s oldest African-American book publishing company. As e-books begin to outsell printed copies, Ames must question his employees to determine who is still relevant in a rapidly changing world. When Alex meets J (Cordova), a mysterious youth plugged into the future, Ames is forced to discover how far he will go to survive in a world where the real and the virtual are more closely tied than we think. In addition to Jackson, Lumbly and Cordova, stop. reset. features Michi Barall, Teagle Bougere and Donald Sage Mackay.
