It’s a Spring Awakening Reunion! Phoebe Strole Joins Lea Michele on Glee

Broadway veteran Phoebe Strole will reunite with her Spring Awakening co-star Lea Michele on season five of Glee, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Strole will play Penny Owen, a college sophomore who catches the eye of Sam (Chord Overstreet). Strole is the latest actor added for the show’s fifth season. She joins new cast members Demi Lovato and Adam Lambert.

“Such amazing news that two of my very best friends are going to be on #Glee this year! @ddlovato [Lovato] & @PhoebeStrole! Thank you @MrRPMurphy!,” Michele tweeted.

Strole most recently starred in the off-Broadway production of The Madrid. Her additional stage credits include Mourning Becomes Electra, The Metal Children, The Big Meal and Parade. She appeared on screen in Rescue Me, Stella, Hamlet 2, My One and Only and Sorority Wars.
