Two-time Tony nominee and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Laura Osnes is going from making magic on Broadway to soliving crimes on TV. The Cinderella star will appear on an episode in the upcoming second season of the CBS crime drama Elementary, a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes mysteries set in NYC.
The show stars Broadway alums Jonny Lee Miller (After Miss Julie) as Holmes and Lucy Liu (God of Carnage) as Dr. Joan Watson. Miller tweeted a photo of the trio and added, “The lovely and excellent Laura Osnes was on set today. Aka Cinde-freakin'-rella!!”
No word yet on exactly what role Osnes (in adorable glasses) will play or if she will share any scenes with her Bonnie & Clyde co-star Jeremy Jordan.
Osnes made her Broadway debut in Grease after winning the TV reality competition series You’re the One That I Want. She went on to star in South Pacific and Anything Goes before garnering her first Tony nomination for her performance in Bonnie and Clyde in 2011. She picked up her second Tony nomination the following season for headlining Cinderella. Osnes is also the star of the Broadway.com video blog, The Princess Diary.
