Carrie Coon has landed a leading role in the upcoming film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel Gone Girl. She’ll play Margo, the twin sister of Ben Affleck’s character, Nick, in the David Fincher-helmed thriller, reports Deadline.
Gone Girl tells the story of Amy (Rosamund Pike) and Nick Dunne (Affleck), a young married couple whose relationship comes under scrutiny when Amy disappears, leaving Nick under a cloud of suspicion. Coon’s Margo is the plain-spoken twin sister of Nick, one of the few people he can trust after Amy vanishes.
Coon made her Broadway debut and earned her first Tony Award nomination for playing Honey in the 2012 revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, co-starring her fiancé Tracy Letts. Coon will also appear on the upcoming fall pilot Ironside, as well as the TV movie The Leftovers.
