Founding Atlantic Theater Company member Mary McCann, who headlined the company's production of Harper Regan last season, will lead the off-Broadway premiere of Nancy Harris’ Our New Girl. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, the play rounds out Atlantic’s 2013-2014 season. Our New Girl will be presented at Atlantic Stage 2 from May 29 through June 22, 2014, with an official opening on June 10.
Behind the shiny door of Hazel Robinson’s (McCann) perfect London home, nothing is as it seems. Hazel's plastic surgeon husband Richard has embarked on his latest charitable quest in Haiti, leaving the heavily pregnant Hazel with a failing business and a problem son. When a professional nanny arrives unannounced on the Robinsons' doorstep, Hazel finds her home under the shadow of a perfect stranger with an agenda of her own.
Harris’ drama premiered at London’s Bush Theatre in January 2012, and the Atlantic Theater production will mark the U.S. premiere. Additional casting and creative team members have not been announced.
In addition to Harper Regan, McCann has appeared in Atlantic productions of Bluebird, Almost an Evening, Body Awareness, Spring Awakening, The Cherry Orchard, The Night Heron, The Hiding Place, This Thing of Darkness, The Beginning of August, Wolf Lullaby, The Water Engine, Edmond and Dangerous Corner, among others. Her Broadway credits include The Old Neighborhood, Our Town and Search and Destroy.
