Visitors have arrived at the Pershing Square Signature Center! The Old Friends, the world premiere of Horton Foote’s posthumous drama opens September 12 at off-Broadway’s Irene Diamond Stage. Directed by Michael Wilson, the production stars Tony winner Betty Buckley and Tony nominees Hallie Foote and Lois Smith. The Old Friends will play a limited engagement through October 6.
In addition to Buckley as Gertrude, Foote as Sybil and Smith as Mamie Borden, The Old Friends stars Veanne Cox as Julia Price, Adam LeFevre as Albert Price, Sean Lyons as Tom Underwood, Novella Nelson as Hattie, Melle Powers as Catherine and Cotter Smith as Howard Ratliff.
The drama tells the story of Mamie Borden (Smith) and the remaining members of two Texas farming families who await a visit from Mamie’s son Hugo and wife Sybil (Foote). When Sybil arrives with bad news, old friends on opposing sides ignite old issues surrounding legacy, loyalty and the meaning of happiness that have haunted them for years.
The Old Friends creative team includes set designer Jeff Cowie, costume designer David C. Woolard, lighting designer Rui Rita, sound designer John Gromada and wig and hair designer Paul Huntley.
