After exploding onto the scene last year, Joshua Harmon’s biting dramedy Bad Jews returns off-Broadway for a second run—and this time, they’re upstairs! The play, directed by Daniel Aukin, moves from the 62-seat Black Box Theatre to the 420-seat Laura Pels Theatre on September 19, with opening night on October 3.
Molly Ranson, Tracee Chimo, Phillip Ettinger and Michael Zegen reprise their roles as Melody, Daphna, Jonah and Liam from last year’s world premiere. Bad Jews is a darkly hilarious take on family, faith and legacy, telling the story of Daphna Feygenbaum (Chimo), a “real Jew” who clashes with her cousin Liam (Zegen) when he brings home his new shiksa girlfriend (Ranson) and claims ownership over their grandfather’s beloved Chai necklace.
Bad Jews features set design by Lauren Halpern, costume design by Dane Laffrey, lighting design by Mark Barton and sound design by Shane Rettig.
