Tony winner Mary Zimmerman’s acclaimed musical adaptation of Disney’s 1967 animated hit The Jungle Book officially opened at Boston’s Huntington Theatre Company on September 18. The visually arresting live show made its premiere at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre earlier in the summer before transferring to Boston, where it has been extended through October 20. The production stars Roni Akurati and Akash Chopra as Mowgli, a young boy raised in the Indian jungle, and features Tony nominee Andre De Shields as King Louie, Larry Yando as Shere Kahn, Kevin Carolan as Baloo and Anjali Bhimani as Raksha.
