Classic Stage Company has announced that its upcoming production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Julian Cihi as the star-crossed lovers, will begin previews one day later than initially scheduled. The delay is due to technical modifications that will require additional rehearsals. Romeo & Juliet will now begin performances on September 28. Directed by Tea Alagic, the play will still open on October 16 and is scheduled to run through November 10 at the off-Broadway theater.
In addition to Olsen and Cihi, the cast of Romeo & Juliet includes T.R. Knight as Mercutio, Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega as the Nurse, McKinley Belcher III as Benvolio, Stan Demidoff as Paris/Sampson, Harry Ford as Gregory/Friar John/Watchman, David Garrison as Lord Capulet, Anthony Michael Martinez as Prince, Kathryn Meisle as Lady Capulet, Dion Mucciacito as Tybalt and John Rothman as Lord Montague/Apothecary.
One of Shakespeare's most well-known and performed plays, Romeo & Juliet is a tragedy about two young lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families.
