The lineup of soloists on the newest Broadway’s Carols for a Cure album is looking pretty darn awesome: Cinderella’s Laura Osnes, Tony-winning Kinky Boots star Billy Porter, Spider-Man alum Reeve Carney, gossip blogger Perez Hilton… Wait, what?! Yes, Perez Hilton, who made his New York stage debut in Newsical the Musical in 2012, will also lend his voice to the new recording. Broadway’s Carols for a Cure, Volume 15 will be sold at participating Broadway and off-Broadway shows from October through December. The album, which benefits Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, will also be available through the organization’s website.
On the new album, Hilton will sing the original song “Perez’s 2013 Holiday Dishlist,” composed by Jason Michael Webb, with lyrics by George Howe and Lynn Pinto. Carney will lend his voice to “A Savior Is Born,” Porter will join Kinky Boots book writer Harvey Fierstein for “Carol of the Boots,” Faith Prince and her Annie orphans will sing “Children Go Where I Send Thee,’ and Cinderella stars Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Rebecca Luker, Ann Harada and more will record their interpretation of “Happy Christmas, Little Friend.”
Created by Pinto, the album will be released on Rock-It Science Records, featuring additional songs recorded by the casts of First Date, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Matilda, Motown, Newsies, Once, Rock of Ages, Soul Doctor and Wicked.
