The complete cast of the Donmar Warehouse production of Conor McPherson’s The Night Alive will reunite for the show’s American premiere at Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater. The play will have a limited nine-week engagement beginning previews on November 30, 2013. Opening night is set for December 12, with the limited engagement set to play through January 26, 2014, directed by the playwright.
Tony winner Jim Norton (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, McPherson's The Seafarer) Broadway vet Ciaran Hinds (The Seafarer, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Caoilfhionn Dunne, Brian Gleeson and Michael McElhatton will reprise their performances from the Donmar production, which played a sold-out run earlier this year. The show is designed by Soutra Gilmour, with lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Gregory Clarke.
The play follows Tommy (Hinds), a man just getting by and renting a room from his Uncle Maurice (Norton) who encounters a woman (Dunne) who is also struggling through life. Their past won’t let go easily, but together there’s a glimmer of hope they could make something more of their lives.
Atlantic previously presented premiere productions of McPherson's Dublin Carol and Port Authority.
