Sierra Boggess is inviting you to her debut album's launch party! "Oh my gosh, I'm so excited," the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner says of her Live at 54 record, which drops at the end of November. Recorded in August, the album will be the focus of Boggess' encore engagement at the intimate nightclub December 2 through 7, an event she's calling "basically my CD release party."
Broadway.com caught up with Boggess on the October 6 opening night of Big Fish, where she was supporting her sister Summer, who plays in the show's orchestra. The stage favorite revealed that Live at 54 Below will feature her now infamous comedic medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber tunes performed in a variety of exaggerated vocal styles. Has the Tony-winning composer heard her sing Phantom of the Opera's "Think of Me" in the style of Britney Spears? "He's not heard the ALW medley," Boggess says, "so we need to get him here to New York!" The composer will likely be busy in December prepping for the West End premiere of his new musical Stephen Ward, but we bet he'll enjoy Sierra's loving send-up of the music of the night.
Boggess made her Broadway debut in The Little Mermaid before returning to Broadway in Master Class. She has appeared in both the Las Vegas and Broadway productions of The Phantom of the Opera, as well as the musical’s sequel, Love Never Dies. She starred alongside her fiance, Tam Mutu, in Les Miserables in the West End. In June, Boggess toured Japan with Phantom star Ramin Karimloo, Lea Salonga and Yu Shirota in their concert series 4 Stars: One World of Broadway Musicals.
