Still suffering Smash withdrawal symptoms? The new Showtime musical comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend may help. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the half-hour show will focus on a woman who upends her life to stalk an ex. No premiere date for the show has been announced.
The script comes courtesy of Hollywood heavyweight Aline Brosh McKenna and YouTube award winner Rachel Bloom, whose naughty musical ode to sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury went viral. Brosh McKenna is not only currently working on Sony's Annie, but also Disney's Cruella, starring Tony winner Glenn Close, and Cinderella. Both Bloom and Brosh McKenna will also executive produce.
Actress-singer-comedian-writer Bloom has featured on the small screen in How I Met Your Mother and the CW's web series Gallery Mallory, while her writing credits include Robot Chicken and Allen Gregory. She has appeared at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in both New York and Los Angeles in live musical sketch comedy shows.
