Who’s the Daddy?! Ron Raines. The Tony and Emmy Award nominee will take over the role of Daddy Warbucks in the Broadway revival of Annie beginning December 10, replacing Anthony Warlow, who will play his final performance on December 8. Annie continues at Broadway’s Palace Theatre through January 5, 2014.
Raines' Broadway credits include his Tony nominated turn as Ben in Follies. He has also appeared in Newsies, Chicago, Show Boat and Teddy And Alice. His national tour and regional credits include The Unsinkable Molly Brown, A Little Night Music, Annie, The King and I, Kiss Me Kate, South Pacific and Kismet. His TV credits include Guiding Light, for which he was a three-time Emmy nominee. Raines joins a cast that stars Tony Award-winner Faith Prince as Miss Hannigan, 12-year-old Taylor Richardson as Annie, Jenni Barber as Grace Farrell, Clarke Thorell as Rooster Hannigan and Kirsten Wyatt as Lily St. Regis.
Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the show features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. The production, helmed by James Lapine and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, opened on November 8. Annie was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Revival and won the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Revival. The musical will launch a US National Tour in the 2014-2015 season.
