A chilling new production of Macbeth is haunting Broadway just in time for Halloween! The Lincoln Center Theater mounting of Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy begins performances October 25, starring Ethan Hawke and Anne-Marie Duff as the power-hungry couple. Directed by Jack O’Brien, Macbeth opens November 21 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
Macbeth follows the title Scottish general (Hawke), who receives a prophecy from three witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the throne. He soon becomes a tyrannical ruler and commits several murders to protect himself. The bloodbath takes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth (Duff) into a spiral of arrogance, madness and death.
In addition to Hawke and Duff, Macbeth features Bianca Amato as Lady Macduff, Richard Easton as Duncan, Brian d’Arcy James as Banquo, Jonny Orsini as Malcolm and Daniel Sunjata as Macduff, with Malcolm Gets, John Glover and Byron Jennings as the Three Witches. The ensemble includes Shirine Babb, John Patrick Doherty, Austin Durant, Francesca Faridany, Stephanie Fieger, Ben Horner, Ruy Iskandar, Paul Kite, Aaron Krohn, Jeremiah Maestas, Christopher McHale, Sam Poon, Triney Sandoval, Nathan Stark, Patrick Vaill, Tyler Lansing Weaks and Derek Wilson.
The Macbeth creative team includes set designer Scott Pask, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Japhy Weideman and composer and sound designer Mark Bennett.
