The Broadway.com DVR will definitely be set for this! The fifth season of Modern Family has called in some big Broadway star power. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony winners Jane Krakowski and John Benjamin Hickey have been tapped to make cameos in the hit ABC comedy in an upcoming episode entitled "Under Pressure." Also joining them will be Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg, who recently starred in the off-Broadway hit The Revisionist.
Krakowski is set to play a "mean girl mom" called Dr. Donna, who will catfight with Sofia Vergara’s character Gloria. Meanwhile, Hickey will reportedly play one of the Dunphys’ therapists and Eisenberg will make an appearance as an eco-obsessed neighbor of Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).
The episode will mark the Emmy-nominated Krakowski’s first return to TV since 30 Rock wrapped after seven seasons. Krakowski won a Tony Award for playing Carla in the Broadway revival of Nine and an Olivier Award for playing Adelaide in Guys and Dolls in London. A Tony nominee for Grand Hotel, she has also appeared on Broadway in Company, Once Upon a Mattress, Tartuffe and Starlight Express and starred in the 2008 Encores! summer production of Damn Yankees.
Hickey received a Tony Award for his turn in the 2011 revival of The Normal Heart. His previous Broadway credits include Mary Stuart, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Cabaret and The Crucible. His TV and flim credits include The Good Wife, The Big C, Hannibal and Pitch Perfect.
