The Peacock network has finally canceled continues to believe in Sean Saves the World. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has picked up the freshman comedy(?) for four additional scripts. Starring Emmy winner and Tony nominee Sean Hayes, Smash standout Megan Hilty and Tony winner Linda Lavin, Sean Saves the World averages 4 million total viewers in its Thursday 9:00PM time slot.
Created by Victor Fresco (Go On, Mad About You) Sean Saves the World follows a divorced gay father (Hayes) with a successful, yet demanding, career. When his 14-year-old daughter (Samantha Isler) moves in with him full-time, he is forced to juggle his work life, his pushy mom (Lavin), and trying to be the best father ever. The recently married Hilty co-stars as Liz, Sean's best friend and co-worker.
Sean Saves the World has struggled to impress viewers, critics and the editorial staff of Broadway.com. However, Sean should receive a boost as NBC has decided to make Parks and Recreation the series' new lead-in at 8:30PM, while Community will also soon join the Thursday schedule. The Peacock network will air the highly-anticipated live broadcast of The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer, Audra McDonald, Christian Borle and Laura Benanti, on December 5.
