Ryan Murphy has tapped Broadway favorite Cheyenne Jackson to complete the cast of his HBO pilot Open, according to Deadline.com. Jackson, who played Vocal Adrenaline coach Dustin Goolsby on Murphy’s Fox series Glee, will join a cast that includes Michelle Monaghan, Scott Speedman, Anna Torv and off-Broadway vets Wes Bentley and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2014.
Open is described as a provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships. Jackson will reportedly play a handsome meth addict in the pilot, co-written by Murphy and Lauren Gussis. His recently announced casting in Darren Star’s Lifetime TV pilot HR will be a guest-starring role.
Jackson most recently appeared on Broadway as a porn star in The Performers, and his Broadway credits include Xanadu, Aida, Thoroughly Modern Millie, All Shook Up and Finian’s Rainbow. Upcoming film credits include Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks and Opening Night. On stage, he is scheduled to co-star with Laura Benanti in the April 2014 Encores! revival of Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella.
