Little Miss Sunshine is sticking around for one more week! Originally scheduled to play through December 8, the new musical by William Finn and James Lapine is now slated to run through December 15. Directed by Lapine and starring Will Swenson, Stephanie J. Block and Hannah Rose Nordberg, Little Miss Sunshine will open November 14 at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre.
In addition to Block as Sheryl Hoover, Swenson as Richard Hoover and Nordberg as Olive Hoover, Little Miss Sunshine stars Rory O’Malley as Frank Hoover, Wesley Taylor as Joshua Rose, Logan Rowland as Dwayne Hoover, John Lamon as Buddy, David Rasche as Grandpa Hoover and Jennifer Sanchez as Miss California. The cast also includes Aliva Clark, Victoria Dennis, Miranda McKeon and Leonay Shepherd.
Based on the hit indie film of the same name, Little Miss Sunshine centers on Olive Hoover (Nordberg), an eccentric and idealistic young girl who convinces her entire family to pile into an old VW bus and drive 800 miles to a pre-teen beauty pageant. As the zany group makes its journey a series of mishaps threaten to derail the trip.
Little Miss Sunshine features scenic and projection design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, lighting design by Ken Billington and sound design by Jon Weston.
