Will the Demon become the Goblin? Gene Simmons, co-founder/lead vocalist/bass guitarist of the band KISS, might be the next performer to play the Green Goblin role in Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. According to Simmons himself, show producer Michael Cohl would like to see the legendary rocker portray Spider-Man's menacing archnemesis. This is the second time in a month that a rocker has reportedly been considered for the villainous role.
On November 6, Simmons tweeted, "Thank you, Michael Cohl for offering me the role of the Green Goblin on the Broadway production of #spiderman." Though a representative for the musical, which plays at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre, couldn't confirm Simmons' the offer, we think the singer would make a great Goblin. Think about it: he's got the rock credentials, he loves to wear make-up, he's has that terrifyingly long tongue and KISS' 2013 Monster Tour wraps up on November 8.
Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark follows the story of Peter Parker (Justin Matthew Sargent), whose life takes a turn for the extraordinary when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and finds himself endowed with superpowers. Parker quickly learns that with great power comes great responsibility as he tries to juggle the demands of high school and home life, while battling the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli) and his band of super villains. Peter must fight to save everything he holds dear, including the beautiful girl-next-door, Mary Jane Watson (Rebecca Faulkenberry).
