Climb on board, because the musical adaptation of Little Miss Sunshine is pulling into off-Broadway’s Tony Kiser Theatre! The new tuner by William Finn and James Lapine opens November 14, starring Stephanie J. Block, Will Swenson and nine-year-old Hannah Nordberg. The Second Stage production is slated to run through December 15.
Little Miss Sunshine stars Block as Sheryl Hoover, Swenson as Richard Hoover, Nordberg as Olive Hoover, Rory O’Malley as Frank Hoover, Wesley Taylor as Joshua Rose, Logan Rowland as Dwayne Hoover, Josh Lamon as Buddy, David Rasche as Grandpa Hoover and Jennifer Sanchez as Miss California. The cast also includes Aliva Clark, Victoria Dennis, Miranda McKeon and Leonay Shepherd.
Inspired by the hit movie, Little Miss Sunshine tells the story of Olive Hoover (Nordberg), an eccentric young girl who convinces her entire family to pile into an old VW bus and drive 800 miles to help her compete in a pre-teen beauty pageant. During their journey, a series of mishaps threatens to derail the zany group’s big trip.
Little Miss Sunshine features scenic and projection design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jennifer Caprio, lighting design by Ken Billington and sound design by Jon Weston.
