Mercedes Ellington Thrills to Her Grandfather’s Music at After Midnight

The swinging sounds of Duke Ellington are thrilling Broadway audiences at After Midnight, which features a dozen tunes by the legendary composer. On November 26, Mercedes Ellington, granddaughter of Duke and daughter of bandleader Mercer Ellington, headed to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to see this jazzy new song-and-dance extravaganza. After the show, Mercedes went backstage to warmly congratulate the stars. Also on hand: Broadway vet and So You Think You Can Dance finalist Neil Haskell and retired anchorwoman Sue Simmons.
