Tony winner Judith Light, The Office favorite Jenna Fischer and Broadway alums Richard Kind and Fred Weller have boarded the cast of playwright/screenwriter Neil LaBute’s short-film series 10x10, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The original series is set to air on DirecTV’s Audience network in 2014.
Each of the series of 10, 10-minute films will be written, directed and produced by LaBute. The short films will feature one character sharing his or her story directly to the viewer and will explore the nature of human relationships, centering on the themes of love and loss.
“I feel so fortunate to have enlisted such wonderful actors for this, many of which I've had the pleasure of working with on the New York stage" LaBute told the Reporter. "It takes an exceptional talent to do this kind of acting—straight to the camera and without any edits. It's like walking a tightrope without a net."
Fischer starred in LaBute's Reasons to Be Happy for MCC Theater, while Weller appeared the playwright's The Shape of Things, Reasons to Be Happy and In a Dark Dark House. Casting for the remainder of the films will be announced shortly.
