The off-Broadway play The Preacher and the Shrink was set to run through January 4, 2014, but will now play its final performance on December 22. Written by Merle Good and directed by Steven Yuhasz, the production opened on November 18 at The Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row and stars Tony nominee Dee Hoty and Tom Galantich.
The Preacher and the Shrink tells the story of a young woman who makes a sexual accusation that checkmates her father, a respected and popular pastor. They have been estranged for years by a deep grief. Will she follow through? Will he fight back? Even a psychiatrist, who tries to help, becomes conflicted when middle age romance develops.
The show features Hoty as Dr. Alexandra Bloomfield, Galantich as Dr. Michael Hamilton, Mat Hosteler as Rev. David Wheeler, Nicholas Urda as Steve Richardson and Adria Vitlar as Constance Hunter.
The Preacher and the Shrink includes set design by Brian Prather, lighting design by Kirk Bookman, costume design by Carol Sherry and sound design by Patrick Weaver.
