The Glass Menagerie star Zachary Quinto may be one of Broadway’s hottest leading men right now, but the star says he only found his sense of style and confidence when he left L.A. for New York City. In a recent interview with Mr. Porter, the actor best known for playing Spock in the new Star Trek franchise, spoke about his love for the Big Apple and more.
"I've always wanted to live here," he said. "The past 13 years of working in L.A. were a lot about figuring out when and how to get back [to New York]. I love Los Angeles, it's a beautiful city, but it has no soul…Here, you step outside of your apartment and you never know where it's going to take you."
Quinto discussed his fashion and style choices, including attending the lavish Met Ball with dyed blue hair. Or course, his nights out are now limited to when The Glass Menagerie is dark. But he still managed to bring it all back to fashion: "When you're doing a play as masterful as this, it will always support you," he said. "It falls into place every night. I put on my clothes and it just becomes a different space. Anything is possible."
So what does Quinto have on his schedule when The Glass Menagerie end its limited engagement run on February 23? "It might be time for a beach," Quinto said.
